    Default Audio assistance please

    Me again, sorry.

    Ok.

I need to do a few "interviews" perhaps with video but not important.

I have a Sennheiser ME66, Rode Videomic and Tascam DR60D

    Do I

    1. Use BOTH mics, one pointing at me the other at the other person

    2. One mic between us

If I use both the do I adapt the XLR Senn to 3.5mm like the Rode

If using both do I then change them to MONO in the DR60D, I think I do

    many thanks

The Rode Videomic and the ME66 sound VERY different (strangely these are the two mics I own though I never use the Rode ***) so I would not suggest using them both.

If you use the ME66 only and a boom operator, ensure the mic is moved between interviewer and interviewee WITHOUT changing the direction of the mic (ie do not twist from one to the other) as this will pick up different background sounds (taught to me by a retired head of Sound at SkyTV)

If you have control over the environment and are careful with the two shots (ie where bot interviewer and interviewee are both in shot) I'd suggest you record the whole interview with the mic set up soleley for the inteviewee. Then, after the interview and after the interviewee has left and you've had time to play it back, re-record yourself and the questions in the same environment, . (You could even re-film them)

Boom operator, duh..... I should be so lucky.

THIS is my BOOM operator on a desk, I was thinking of placing the mic between us, whilst I appreciate what you are saying, for the sort of interviews I am doing that would be way tooooooo complicated with just me.

Mic on a small mount or DR05

    Thanks for replying, appreciated

the setup in the photo is similar to what many news reporters typically use here - it should of work fine - the words being spoken should be audible unless there is heavy construction in the background
