Default Film credits? Is there a set criteria?

Hi guys, just putting finishing touches to a documentary I have been working on and was wondering is there a set criteria on how credits are set out?

No. And certainly not in the same way that there is a "set" format for scripts.

There is one unwritten rule though... The same name should never appear thrice.

    There's nothing worse than:

    Written by Joe Bloggs
    Music by A.N. Other
    Filmed by Joe Bloggs
    Sound by Someone Else
    Edited by Joe Bloggs
    Directed by Joe Bloggs
    Produced by Joe Bloggs

A Joe Bloggs production 2016 Joe Bloggs

But usually it's the cast, followed by the crew, with the main production crew right at the end. Or any variation thereof! Convention is that the producer is the last name on the list.

However, nothing is written in stone.

I thought that was the case but was not 100% sure. Thank you.

    Personally I like ...

    Dan Murray Pictures Presents ...
    A Dan Murray Production ...
    Of a Dan Murray Film...
    Starring ... (pause for effect)
    DAN MURRAY

    +1 to what Rob said.
Produced by is nearly always last.
On a very small scale film, If there are only a few people involved it is generally assumed that the "producer" was responsible for everything not specifically credited. Or, if you're particularly proud of one aspect, you might put "Written and Produced by". "Filmed, Edited and Produced by" is as far as I would go (and even that might be a credit too much for Rob).

Watch the credits on the Holy Grail and you'll see a job well done

    I don't have a problem with...

    Sound: Some Bloke
    Music: Another bloke
    Catering: Someone's mum
    Continuity: Some bird
    Publicity: Another bird
Filmed and Edited by: Joe Bloggs
Produced and Directed by Joe Bloggs.

As long as the "Twice is nice, never thrice" rule is followed.

    In fact:

Filmed, edited, directed, written and produced by Joe Bloggs

Would be even better (and more impressive) in my opinion.

Or best of all just one credit:

    A film by Joe Bloggs

Edit: (The misogynistic sexism is meant as post modernist irony.)
