Question Filming (under 16) in a public location (Manchester UK)

Hi, I am not sure if this post is in the right place but I have a question.

I would like to make a film with 6 episodes in a public location (which is very desolate and empty (no-one lives there)) and I have my parents' full permission. Do I still need govermental permission or something like that? The other cast are about 10 other children.

    Thanks in advance!

In case you're wondering, what BMJ says is true in the UK.
Basically you can film anywhere that is public. That doesn't mean you can film from a piece of public land with an 800mm lens into somewhere where people might expect a reasonable expectation of privacy (I'm not suggesting you are intending to do that).
Be absolutely sure the land is public though. If it turns out to belong to someone they do have the right to turf you off.
They do NOT, however, have the right to seize any of your equipment.
This may be of use: It starts "As a member of the IAC", but it equally holds true for any member of the public (the IAC is not a professional body, neither does it enjoy any privileges as far as right to film goes). The letter from the Association of Chief Police Officers is worth printing out and carrying.
Ignore the bit about not filming police - that appears to be out of date or incorrect.
