    Ok , anyone able to help me out in getting the date/time stamp ( WITH SECONDS ) onto some footage using a mac book pro ? Cheers

    It's usually helpful to know what software you have, since how you do it depends on the software you have.

    Hi david ,
    I use a MacBook Pro , OS X YOSEMITE ,
    tried I movie , isky soft with no joy ! Just need those seconds to be rolling !

    You need an overlay / effect like 'timecode' which as far as I know neither of those apps have.

    Yes , exactly ! Hard to find something that does this !

    No idea about Sony Vegas, but it can be done in Avid Media Composer. Its a bit of a hassle, but with Avids Media Composer you have the option to burn in the timecode (Generate --> Burn in Timecode).
    - Apply the effect and go into the effects editor
    - Disable Display 1 (checking the yellow box so its grey)
    - Enable the Note Track (at the bottom of the effects editor)
    - Type your text, and position it where you want (don't worry, the pink crosshairs will be invisible once outside of the effects editor)

    does this place the date & time from the camera ? Not sure what you mean by type text !
