    Default Simple photo program requested

My sister wants to put together an animated slideshow of stills to music for an upcoming event. Actually she wants me to do it (and originally wanted it to be video) and I'm a bit too busy to undertake so I've politely declined.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a free Windows based program that will do this?

You could try Media Center in Windows 7 (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...s-media-center)
    Hope this helps

Thanks for the suggestion. I should have mentioned, she needs something that can output a file (eg MP4, mov etc) rather than something that will require a proprietary program to play back,

As above. She wouldn't want to lug a mac to show it on!

Plus ... their computer was bought by my brother in law. After years of being an Apple fanboy, he finally realised the true cost of owning a Mac when his support ran out and people wanted to charge him 79 any time he had a simple query. When it gave up the ghost he swapped to PCs and vowed never to go back.

Well, its not quite a file, but according to this toturial, you can burn a DVD from Media Center. If she really needs the file, she can extract the .VOB from the files on the DVD.

when you say an animated slideshow of stills i assume you mean a simple collection of stills flowing into each other with simple transitions ?

if so, surly the devils spawn that is Windows movie maker is capable ?

Thanks Aljosha. I read the bumph and it didn't look like you could do that. Poor marketing.

I think she's looked at that but wants something with a few more controllable transitions. I think I spoiled her a bit by creating an intro last year to her community choir dancing to "Happy" (I won't post it again as it's best forgotten about) and she kept coming back to me with requests for tweaks - one of the reasons I'm "too busy" to do it this year.

This looks good. Is it too complex ?

Looks good Midnight. But a similar cost to Pro Show (which i think is the standard for this sort of thing) and therefore misses the "free" I put in my original post
On the other hand, perhaps she'll just have to bite the bullet and pay. After all, why expect stuff for free. I certainly don't.

    I'll forward the link.
