It depends on what software you are using.

You could create a custom timeline with the size that already matches your clip

    or

You could crop the clip as it's rendered to the file on export.

    or

You could use something like mpegStreamclip (free) to crop it afterwards.

It said Vegas in the title - so:

When you drop the clip onto your timeline initially, Vegas would have offered you an option to match the timeline to the clip - this will set the frame rate and the number of pixels wide/deep for the project the same as your clip.
When you come to render, in the "Render as" dialog box, tick the "Match Project Settings" and this will only show options that are custom made for your clip.

However, it is likely that this is a non-standard dimension and so you will need to create your own custom template.

I'd suggest start with the MainConcept AVC/AAC (*.mp4) , select the Internet 720p portrait template, then hit "customise template" and change the dimensions to suit.

You may have to experiment to get exactly what you're after. Hint - if you right click on the event on your timeline and select properties, this will tell you all sorts of useful infor about the clip you've imported.

Wow, right at the top of the page - but not on the post itself or the post title. Sorry - will need to check additional places in future!

It's caught me out many times, and I suspect many others.
