For the past 3 years i have used my Canon Powershot SX1IS exclusively for shooting HD. However, as others have correctly mentioned on here, its good for point to point, but the stabilisation when moving around holding it is terrible. I also cant store much on each memory card.
I make wildlife related movies where the camera will be recording for long periods awaiting just a few seconds of usable footage so im looking for a camcorder that shoots HD 1920 x 1080 (around 25frames per second) for long periods of recording time.
I only really have 3 main specifics I'm looking for:
Maximum memory and recording time in HD.
Reasonable stabilisation when walking with the camcorder and shooting
A flip round screen to ensure I can record myself and see myself at the same time.
2 options ive looked at include:
Sony HDR-PJ810E: this gives me 32Gb of internal memory and i believe i can add a 32GB SD card therefore 64GB whch gives me 320mins
Canon HG10 - I understand this to have a 40GB internal memory which gives me 345mins but this seems to be an old model and mainly on sale second hand
Does anyone have any suggestions or can advise on what i sohuld be looking for for maximum compression? Looking to spend up to about 600 quid, preferably less.
