help and advice on a graphics card and my system

first of all, thanks to everyone who helped with my starwars style scroll, having finnaly done it, i realise i need a good graphics card
i have been offered a Gforce4 128meg 66,00, are these any good and will it improve rendering times and stop my machine from crashing so much?

If you're not using a software package that use the GPU, then it won't matter one jot what graphics card you have (unless it shares RAM).
