Thread: LCD Monitor Brightness for multiple viewers

  1. Default LCD Monitor Brightness for multiple viewers

    Hello.

I have an LG LCD monitor and I'm curious to know how to solve the problem where some people view my videos saying they are too dark even though on my monitor they look just fine? I even sometimes adjust the brightness in Adobe Premiere because the Waveform is reading the whites above 100 ire. When I adjust the brightness in Adobe down to a comfortable level for me some say it's to dark on their computers or TV's. Is this because their monitor is set differently or is there something I'm doing wrong?

It may be that you're getting the exposure wrong. People watch movies on a screen, not on a waveform monitor. If your highlights are at 100% and you're still lacking detail in the shadows, then you've got the shadows under-exposed.

Yes - if areas of your frame are under-exposed, people will tell you that your film is too dark

it would be great to see a clip or even a problematic frame

What are you playing back via (software) and what are others watching on? Screens are different. Stuff on my (calibrated) monitor look different form those on my (half decent) TV.
