I've been editing for a very long time and have just received a brand new computer (MacBook Pro 15in 2.8Ghz 16GB Ram 1TB Flash Storage).

I've always worked off of a 3 drive system but and now looking to explained it to a 4 drive system.

I'm still a little new to this so advice and criticism is very welcome. These are the external drives I am researching to buy.

Main Drive: My laptop drive (1TB Flash)
-will hold the OS and Applications

External Drive 1: Hitachi GST G-DRIVE 4TB USB 3.0 / 2 x Firewire800 3.5" External Hard Drive 0G02537 Silver
- For my Raw Unedited Footage Back Ups (I Use a Canon 60D DSLR so this is for my raw "DCIM" Folders. (H.264 Files)

External Drive 2: Hitachi GST G-DRIVE 4TB USB 3.0 / 2 x Firewire800 3.5" External Hard Drive 0G02537 Silver
- For my Converted Media when using "Log and Transfer" in FCP (Apple Pro Res 422)

External Drive 3: Rocstor Rocpro 900e 1TB USB 3.0 / 2 x Firewire800 / eSATA 3.5" External Hard Drive G269P2-01 Silver
- For waveform cache and renders

External Drive 4: Rocstor Rocpro 900e 1TB USB 3.0 / 2 x Firewire800 / eSATA 3.5" External Hard Drive G269P2-01 Silver
- For final Exports

Then I will daisy chain this all together. I'm still worried about a drive crashing but I would probably get an extra drive for final exports and save duplicates, or get a RAID 1 for exports but I here thats a bad idea.

This is gonna run me 900 dollars so I want to make sure I'm doing this right, and I'm pretty sure I'm thinking about this all wrong.

Help steer me ! Thank you!
