Default White background in Vegas Movie Studio

I am editing a slideshow and would like a white background. From the media generator I chose solid white and dropped it in, but I don't know how to change the color around the photos. I also opened preferences and in video changed the default track fade colors to white. When I right click on an individual slide and look at properties it shows that the background color is white. But the background around the photo slides is still black. Any help is appreciated.

I'm not quite sure what you've done, but are you trying to get this?

Maybe you should go back to the defaults and re-start?

Duh! You can tell I'm very new at all this. I put the photos in then changed the default. I just had to put the photos in after setting the default. Thanks so much!
