Default panasonic HC-V250 SD card capacities

my wife bought a new one sans SD card and i put my 8Gb card in to let her get used to the cam

there are some good bargains just now on 8Gb 30Mb/sec under a 5'er...Ultra make...CLASS 10
should i buy some of these or a biggie for her
i cant find out how much an 8Gb would hold at max resolution..

    any help gratefully received

    cheers

How much they hold depends on the bit rate of the codec.

Here's a simple solution. Record for 'x' minutes (e.g. 10) to a freshly formatted card. Put the card in the computer, take the size of the data and divide by the minutes of recording. Now you know how many minutes per GB and you can choose from there.

Personally, all my cards are now 32GB and 64GB but I shoot long events so need it. 8Gb seems a reasonable size if you're just shooting for fun and can get (and carry with you) multiple cards.

OK, it doesn't mention 8GB cards, but it's easy toe extrapolate.

    thanks David
i think we are going for the multiple card idea and packing them into the cam case...they are for a 3 week holiday
will try that simple exercise to get the capacity right...we may then take more than 4

    1.68GB for 10 minutes...on my present 8GB (4) card...[will get (10) cards]
    so that means..0.168GB per minute...giving 8/0.165 = 48.48
    does that sound ok...
i am thinking now maybe some larger cards would be better...
thanks again for the realtime answer to my question

Why don't you just look at the link to your manual that I posted? It tells you exactly how much you can expect to get on 4, 16 and 64GB cards.
