    Default Audio Equipment repairs UK

    Hi there

New to the forum although looked around it before. Glad to be part of it and I look forward to engaging in the future.

Whats made me sign up finally is this:

I have a Rode mic (XLR connector) and a Senheisser Radio mic - both are in need of repair (connector for Rode and new cable for Sen) I was wondering if anyone could recommend any where in UK? I've googled but not found much to go on. I'm Kent based and would be great if they're local as I hate sending equipment through post (had recent bad experiences) but anywhere thats trustworthy, well priced and decent will do!

    Many thanks in advance

This doesn't sound like particularly specialist stuff. Do you have a local electrical shop (a high street independent, not a Currys or whatever). The sort of place everyone goes to pick up proper light bulbs that aren't available anywhere else or batteries for their Casio digital watches.

the irony of it all is that the quartz crystal wiped out old-school watches and now digital watches have themselves been wiped out by phones - I haven't seen anybody wearing a digital watch since the war - and I don't mean the gulf war - you'd definitely get a laugh wearing a digital watch around here today - probably get called a "walking urine sample" or the UK equivalent thereof

Continuing the irony, whilst I haven't worn a watch for years, because, as you say, I carry a phone all the time, my 26 year old son and 25 year old daughter, both always wear watches of the old quartz variety despite always having their phones not just on their person, but in their hands. When I raised this, they looked at me quizzically and said they don't wear watched to tell the time, they're just fashion statements!

Of course this will all change once someone develops the killer app for the new breed of watches that are paired with our phones.

HI - thank you for the reply and the amusing conversation that followed!!!

Sadly there is no such shop in my town - we have a Maplins (which is why no other shop like that exsists) and I'm pretty sure they don't do repairs. I'm kind of in anytownUK so having someone who could fix Senheisser and Rode mics is a slim chance. I will ask in Maplins when I'm in town next if there are no other options.

    Thanks again for the reply!

It's worth the question. they may know someone locally who can do it privately for you. Where abouts are you?

I suggest that you ring up Richmond Film Services. If they can't help you, they will know someone who can.
