Default Wedding videographer/photographer required - wedding cake offered in exchange

Further to our recent post (see below) I would be willing to make a wedding cake in exchange for a videographer/photograher. I make cakes as a part time business and am interested in saving money and swapping skills.
We are planning our daughters wedding on April 11th 2015 in Basingstoke, Hampshire, and would like to have the day on video but do not have the budget. Would anyone be interested in filming the event for free in return for adding the wedding to their portfolio.
    Heres hoping

    Chris & Karen,

    Problem number one...

Anyone who's any good is likely to have been offered the "film my wedding for free and you can have it as portfolio" offer more times than they can remember and is likely to already have a portfolio. So, what you're really looking for is some one who is just started, or perhaps thinking about starting. They may or may not turn out to be any good, but would be happy to do it for free and you'll take your chances.

    So, here's problem number two....

Anyone looking to build a portfolio is looking to do it now, next week, next month, but next year is a long way away. Realistically they are hoping that portfolio work they do today will turn in to paying jobs next year, at which point they won't need to do any more freebies.

So, trying to be helpful and constructive, it's probably worth asking this question again around 6 - 10 weeks before the wedding. That way people needing to build portfolio 'next year' should be willing to step up to the plate.

Understand a couple of things though.... filming a wedding is never free (or at least it shouldn't be). They will need public liability insurance as an absolute minimum, plus recording and reproducing copyrighted events, which includes both civil and church ceremonies required the purchase of certain licences, such as MCPS and PPL. These aren't expensive (15-20), but unless you want your daughter's wedding to be created using pirated music etc (never a good start) then perhaps you should be willing to stump up at least that, plus be willing to feed them on the day too. Covering a wedding is much harder work than most people think!

Good luck with your wedding plans
