Video refuses to work

So what I want to do is download a video from youtube and add music to it, sounds easy right? Well it seems to be a huge problem for me from some reason, here is what happened to me:
1) Downloaded the video in an mp4 format, didn't work with windows movie maker so I converted it to avi, wmv and mkv but all of them produced the same result
2) I downloaded the trial edition of sony vegas in an attempt to make it work but the video was only a green screen instead of what it should be
3) I tried to use an online video editing site, in this case wevideo and it actually accepted the files and it seems like it works but the video is now black. It seems like in the preview it worked and when editing the footage the video worked but as you can see in the final product it is a black screen

OK. Let's stop there. You have failed to download a file that has issues. You unlikely to get further until you resolve this.
How are you downloading the file from YouTube?
