This clip is the exact same shot, same lighting etc.

The first 5 seconds are in aperture priority with a f.2.4 setting - NOISE Galore!!.....The last 5 seconds are in spotlight mode which according to what i've read, stops the HV30 adding gain and therefore noise.

As you all probably know, you can only control either the aperture or the shutter speed on the HV30. You cant control both at the same time. You also cannot turn the auto gain off other than the method described above.

What I am asking is, if I want to film high contrast night shots without noise, it seems as though spotlight mode with enough lights is the way to go on the HV30.
