Thread: Captured video 'quivers' while panning.

Default Captured video 'quivers' while panning.

    Hi,

I am using Enter Multimedia's VCD Producer Pro capture card to convert my home VHS movies to VCDs. But the video captured with the card 'quivers' when there is a movement in the scene; especially during panning movements. However, if the video is still there is no problem. (But how can there be a video without movement!)

How can I get rid of this 'quivering' (I don't know the correct word, but I suppose you've got the idea) in my videos?

I think it is caused by the low quality of the capture software shipped with the card. (It is WinMPEG-200F). Can anyone please tell me which capture softwares my capture card will support so that I can try one?

The chip used in the card is Winbond's W99200F. I contacted Winbond but there was no reply.

The card manufacturer's site www.entermultimedia.com isn't available these days. I presume that the company has been aquired by some other giant.

    So please help me!

Does it by any chance look like there are lines on your video?

No, there aren't any lines. It's as if it were seen under wavy water.

By the way, the card has a TV tuner too. Recently, I borrowed a TV tuner card (Dazzle MyTV) from my friend and checked the encoding. It also displayed the same 'quivering' distortion when I encoded the video in VCD format. But in AVI format the encoded video was very clear and without any kind of distortion.

What is disappointing is that my card doesn't support AVI encoding. It encodes only in MPEG-1 format for VCD.
