Hi Zami, just back from your backyard in US!!

The turtles.... when you start believing that Mickey Mouse is/was enough, kids will find "Winter, the dolphin tale" movie !!! So there we went, 130 miles to Clearwater Aquarium to see the famous dolphin without tail.... The turtles were being back-scratched on the next tank!

But it was great to see my little girlīs face whe she saw Winter....

Back in 5 weeks now.... donīt miss me too much!!

    Tony who ????

I loved it. So much I watched it a second time immediately.
It felt like longer that 2.04 which would normally be a bad thing, but it didn't feel like too long. i suspect it's because it seemed to pack so much in.
The shots of the floats were particularly vivid (how do they do that? Do they just oversaturate everthing in real life?)
Lovely shots of you and the family enjoying youselves

As far as straighforward holiday montages go, thi is among the best i've seen and certainly has the best "feel good" factor - helped by the high energy music.

i watched the first 30 seconds before going out. I didn't see why you watched a second time Tim. (Sorry Tony). I watched it again when I came back and saw the same cross dissolves and similarly random edits... And then I enjoyed your little film. You really have to watch out for those dissolves, and cut more sympathetically. But nice job Tony! See you when my wife visits Brazil next (must be soon, it's been 3 years since her last visit!)

    Asked and answered!

You know what, Marc, I hadn't even noticed it was all dissolves - and I hate dissolves, so it must have worked for me. Yes, there are a few uncomfortable edits - generally when going from a "movement shot" to a static shot involving animals and the first dissolve between two shots of the sitar/tabla duo (although that was cleverly done as he appears to be playing the same sequence) but it seems the majority (or at least an awful lot) of dissolves were from one rotating subject to another - almost match cuts. I didn't find it unsympathetic at all.

But I wasn't really analysing. The content just worked for me and I didn't get distracted by the editing.

The carrousel was a nice touch - just like the one in your dad's movie - the circle is complete

Very, very nice quality and very close to the water in many shots. Good to see the camera survived! Great holiday video!
My opinions are just that . . . Mine. It's not personal, but is based on my emotional and professional reaction to requested critique. If you choose to ignore constructive comments, I'll just assume you're a vanity poster and not posting to improve your filming and editing skills.

I'm guessing those shots were with a go pro?

It could be the 70D - I think the "Rio Beach Party" edition comes with a waterproof casing that can be dunked in 70 proof alcohol
