Default Lavalier Microphones Pipeline with a Video Camera

    Hello everyone!

I have a question regarding the use of a Lavalier microphone in conjunction with a camera. I'm relatively new to Video Production, but for fun me and some friends are getting into skits (something as a semi-actor I've always wanted to do) and short movies.

I was looking at this camera: http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/...921afcde41en02

    And this microphone:

I was just wondering first of all if these two products are even compatible with each other?
If they are, what is the quality of the two? Remembering that we are on budgets as students.

So, what exactly is the pipeline between the two? How do I get the audio from the lapel microphones into the video, into the computer editing software? Does this mean that the 'cameraman,' needs to be walking around with a laptop to receive the lavalier microphone audio as well as the camera?

Sorry if the question is unclear, or if this is in the wrong section.

    Regards.

    Basically these are not compatible.

The camera needs a mic input (usually a 3.5mm jack) and the mic you linked to is ONLY a transmitter - you would also need a receiver whcih would provide the necessary output for you cameras input (which it hasn't got anyway)

Perhaps a good solution for you would be to just get a lav mic and plug it straight into a suitable smart phone or other digital audio recorder to record the audio. It's quite easy to match up the audio with the video later at the editing stage.
