Match the project properties to the original footage, choose a render template that matches your footage Something like the mp4 multimedia template you may need to change the size to 480 x 360 to match your footage and make sure you have the field order set to lower field first in your render options. Having the wrong field order seems to be giving you some interlace artefacts.

This may get you closer to what you want.

I don't think the Vegas preview window deals with interlacing so you may see issues in the preview but when it's rendered it should be ok. You could try changing the field order in the render template to None (progressive) to see if this deals with the issue. What bit rate is the render template set at ?

The guy in the blue shirt sure is keen to push that scoreboard out of the way!

Are you zooming in? With interlaced source footage it is essential you have the de-interlace method set to Interpolate or Gaussian in the Project Properties. If you don't (ie if you've left it at "none", then because you've zoomed in, the scan lines from the source footage are "fatter" than the scan lines on the output. Just a hunch.

Thank you everyone for your help, I have now managed to solve the problem simply by rendering in Vegas 10... Not sure why that has resolved my issue but nonetheless I don't really care as long it's works out in the end!!
