    Default Top mistakes?

How much of this can you relate to?

Being afraid to film is my biggest weakness.

I can relate to most of these. I don't see what's wrong with doing a freebie now and again though.

A few years ago I worked out that I have never got a paying job directly from doing a "freebie". So now, if I do anything for free it's either for a close friend or because I think it's going to be lots of fun (and I always get my expenses covered).

I would never, ever do a freebie for the muppets who come along with "Do a free music video for our band and when we get famous you'll do all our professional music videos", or such "offers".

However, if you do a freebie with the attitude of "I'm doing this because I want to" then I go along with Midnight and don't have a problem with it.

In the same way, if the treatment starts with "The video opens on a sunny caribbean beach where scantily clothed women are..." it stands a better chance than "On a wet, windy and stormy winter's night on Dartmoor..."

Edit: But my biggest ongoing mistakes.... Not backing-up images on a separate hard drive. Since 95% of the images I do are given to someone else to work on, I tend to be very sloppy when it comes to archiving my own stuff.

    Can't argue with that.

I often do freebies but only ever from the view of I want to do it. I have an offer on my website to do very cheap music videos for local unsigned bands but that's because 1. I have very little experience doing them. 2. I like living their dream, as it reminds me of me when I was young. BUT I'd never do a job just based on we'll scratch your back when we are famous.

I don't even do paid work if I don't like the sound of it but I have another income stream so I'm lucky.

my biggest problem is using the wrong settings

I am very careful about batteries and memory cards, as well as making sure I have dual backups of everything
