Thread: Output to Tape Help!

    Default Output to Tape Help!

I have completed an hour long Urban Video show that I will be editing, now my problem is outputting to tape. I have no idea on how to go about doing this.

In the export dropdown the output to tape option is in gray. i thought that i would be able to just plug my RCA A/V cables to the VCR and play the timeline and hit REC on the VCR and it would do what it needed to do.

Can someone that has done this help me out ?

    What software are you using?

COMPAQ something or other with 500Gb Boot Disk, 1Tb external Firewire Disk, 4Gb Memory and a super duper sound card, 19" TFT Monitor etc etc etc
    Sony TRV33e : Sony TRV310e : Canon XM2
Sony Vegas Studio editions to v11

Its also Premiere Elements. If it is Elements then I can help the user, if its Premiere I will have to pass to someone else. Hence the question.

Not sure if I'm reading into this something that isn't there, but he talks about 'VCR' which I took to mean analog/set top VCR - in which case, no way Jose - you can't just output a digital file to an analog device. You'd need something like an ADVC-100 or similar, I'd guess. If, on the other hand, he's trying to output to e.g. a digital camcorder, the issue may be that DV-In isn't enabled on his camcorder - that would explain the greyed out option. But I may be well wide of the mark here.
