Default Sony firmware needs to be restored

I have a Sony dcr-trv940e. The firmware has been wiped, and needs to be restored.

Is there a place I can download firmware from and restore it myslelf? I'd prefer this than the hassle (and expense) of taking to the sony place to do.

    Tough one.

You could try one of those companies that supply DV-IN enablers (effectively they were a re-write of the firmware). For example

Or you could simply try the reset button to return the camera to its factory state. (see the trouble shooting guide in your manual for instruction).

    Good luck
