On a game i play there is a built in video/screen capture. However it saves the screen movie in .sdm format and ive been asured by a friend that its possible to convert .sdm files into a format vuiwable in movie form. Could someone please tell me where to get a converter from? or how to do it.

how large are these sdm files for how long a recording?

take a look at fraps and see how you get on with it as well.

about a 5-10 minute recording will be 10mbs big. Ive used fraps but i have an awefull computer so it dramaticly reduces the FPS rate whilst im playing. The same applys for camtasia

2mb a minute sounds like it's NOT recording it as a video file, but as a series of instructions and co-ordinates telling the game where you (and your opponents/team-mates) were when the game was being recorded, what you were doing, etc.

    What game?
