    Default Compression

Can someone give me a step by step guide on how to compress a project once I am happy that it is completed? I am not even sure if this is done while rendering or what. Using 6.0 if it helps.

I used to use Premiere 6.5, which was the first version to include an encoder. Version 6 didn't have this.

I think your only option is to render out your finished movie to .avi (sounds like you've already done this), then use another app to encode. It'll be a big file, depending how long your movie is.

All the boffins here seems to recommend TMPGenc or virtualdub. Trial versions of these can be downloaded.

tone is right - you can use virtualdub - - which is actually a totally free program. It's not as user friendly as most editing packages, but it doesn't take long to get used to.

How the fuck do you use that Virtual Dub? It's not very user friendly at all.

Actually, before I start babbling on about how to use it, what format are you wanting to compress to? DivX? WMV? MPG?
