    Default Best way to advertise.

I have just started my own production company adter being a freelance filmaker for the last 4 years. I was just wondering what the best way to advertise and gain clients would be, I specialise in documentary but am focusing on promotional videos to get my business name out there. Any hints and advice would be much apreciated.
    Thanks

Hi Jon - There are many avenues to go down which all have their own merits. Flyers or trade mag ads all have minor penetration, but I would be more inclined to target specific video friendly businesses.
Offer to produce a freebie for a suitable 'name' business in your area on condition you can use this for your own promotion too.
Take a stand at a trade show and use a humdinger of a showreel to catch everyone's eye and illustrate just how effective a video can be.
    Hope this helps
My opinions are just that . . . Mine. It's not personal, but is based on my emotional and professional reaction to requested critique. If you choose to ignore constructive comments, I'll just assume you're a vanity poster and not posting to improve your filming and editing skills.

situate yourself in a co-working environment once a week or every two weeks with other businesses around you, advertise within those environments (cards/posters) and talk to people over lunch and in breaks to network, find stories and drum up some clients.
    That can help.

I think you should also look at the different online advertising channels and also share some of your work on video sharing platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo. Do this under your real name of course. In my experience it is always quite important to get one's name out there, that is on the internet. Plus create your own website and make use of social media

Yet you don't take your own advice? Or maybe you're not interested in advertising yourself.
