Thread: Vegas files location

  1. Default Vegas files location

.wmv.sfapo and .wmv.sfk files ,i assume, are created by vegas when you save, containing all the cuts, edits, effect etc information for your projects.

I was wondering if you can create a folder and send all those files there, instead of having them clutter up the default location?

    From Vegas Help:
    Peak Data File

The file created by Vegas Pro when a file is opened for the first time. This file stores the information regarding the graphic display of the waveform so that opening a file is almost instantaneous in direct edit mode. This file is stored in the directory that the file resides in and has a .sfk extension. If this file is not in the same directory as the file, or is deleted, it will be recalculated the next time you open the file in direct mode.

.sfapo = If you embed a Sony Vegas project n a Sony Project, it has to make this file as a proxy to use in your project
    sfk - Audio image

You can move them but a new one si always created in the folder the original file sin so pointless
Have to live with it, I'm afraid pain I know, but there you go.

I don't see what the problem is.
When you want to re-open a project you don't have to wade through all these files.
This is a bit irrelevant but I'm mostly using Linux now, with Windows on another partition, with Vegas 10 on it.
So I've been trying a few Linux video editing programmes.
It's ok, although some programmes are a bit crashy.
Kdenlive, free of course, is the closest 'rival' to Vegas.
The quotes mean I'm not sure if it really does rival Vegas.

Thanks. It would be nice if you could specify a location for these files but oh well.
