    Default Film or photo

I asked a simple question to my wife: does she want an Xmas video. No, says she, I'd prefer you take photos. I could be sneaky and create a time lapse, but it's just not the same. So, what do I do? Ignore the wife or point score?

Ehhh....easy answer! BOTH!! Make the video, get stills from it later. Unless she wants to print large size, she will never notice the difference on the screen/facebook/digital frame etc Another option: shoot video and take stills from the same camera. Probably just a button-press away from each other.

Simple, do both as Tony siad. Take the photos for her and make the video for you.

    Merry Christmas.

I took this as a hint that she didn't want me filming!

For me, and despite the obvious similarities, stills and video are very different beasts. I find it hard to switch between the two. For me, stills are about capturing a moment. A reaction. Or, in my case, normally a cute pose. When filming, I look at the whole environment, for example looking for a reveal or cutaway. I spend so much time thinking about the edit and what would look good together. Stills don't have to have continuity.

And that's one of the reasons my wife doesn't want me to film. The other is that she enjoys looking through stills, whereas i like moving images.
