Default How to butt join two pieces on the timeline?

I have probably went the long way or the wrong way in my last edit. I had two pieces of video, opened them in the trimmer. One piece had to fit inside the other, like patching something up The main vid was ruined in a part and i had an old file that had that good part on it. It has taken me ages to patch it up, and now in my timeline I cant butt join them together.

Tried putting markers on them and using the snap function, this hasn't been straight forward.

Can anybody offer me a hand on this one.
