Thread: I entered a competition

    Default I entered a competition

I entered a competition to win some thing, I've forgotten what the prize is but I'm sure I thought it was worth while.

Anyway I had to edit down a full length movie down to around 5 mins. I found it a very interesting exercise to cut it down so much and still keep the flavour and narrative of the movie.

You can check it out HERE if you want.

I have watched the original about 3 times in 50 years. It was fascinating to see that 5 min version. Thanks for sharing that. I was astonished how well the plot is maintained.
(Sadly, my favourite line fell to the cutting room floor - the old stationmaster saying "the next train's gone".)

Nice job! Not easy to downsize and keep the full idea.

I thought it improved as it went along. Whilst the opeining section told the story concicely, I thought the later sections flowed better.
The section with the composites (where the people are phoning ahead of teh train) did you come up with the composite idea or was it resent in the original (it's a while since I've seen it)?
I don't think I'd have the patience to do that. Well done.

The composite is in the original and some of it I did. It takes a lot of zen to condense something like this into 5 mins and still keep the slapstick nature of the humour. I just hope I've done good enough to win the prize, what ever it is. Actually I'd like the second prize which I know is the latest version of Vegas Pro as I'm still on v10.

It was a good exercise and I would recommend any budding editor to have a go.

I didn't know the original, which made it difficult for me to appreciate what you did. And for some reason my sound wouldn't work on Vimeo?

Can you please do Star Wars next time?

That's just what I needed after a stressful day.

    Thanks Tim.
