    Default What is this transition?

Hey, I'm pretty new too this forum, and forums in general to be honest, so forgive me if I have posted this in the wrong place or what not. But I've seen this effect on a few videos and just wanted to know what it was or where exactly its from.
OCD - Obsessive Carly Disorder - YouTube 2.02 is the first one
A similar effect is also on this CHAPS ON TOUR 2011 - YouTube
Just wanted alittle nfo on it if at all possible. Cheers

Well it IS a transition, but I guess you mean it's not a transition out of the box.

Not sure I agree with the B&W or Sats. I thought at first it was an additive dissolve but that doesn't give the bright whites.

    Here's an attempt at copying:

(Actually now it's been YouTubified, I realise it doesn't look quite the same - this is because the transition I made only lasts 5 frames whereas the original was 9)

    Here's how I did i:

Put video on two different tracks and overlap by the length of the transition.
Split both clips at the ends of the overlap (so you have two events, one under the other, for the length of the transiton.
On these short clips, drop a Brightness and Contrast effect.
Increase the brightness and contrast to taste.
In the topmost transition sinply fade in/out (depending on which way you've organised the clips.

Much quicker to do than to type.

Hope that gives you pointers - and most importantly experiment to make the transitions your own.

Im now looking into using a second track in another track composition, hopefully meaning i dont have to put any effects over the clip that is glitching. Im hoping this will work. Thank you very much for the feedback, it has been really helpfull

It looks like its just overexposed, one layer at around 50% opacity, and a camera jitter.....

There's no camera jitter. It's just supermimosed (I've examined it frame by frame)

However, looking again, I see that the overlapped bits aren't just "overexposed", but alternate bewteen over exposed and not. This adds a bit more of a flicker to it.
