Default How Can I Crop an MTS file?

I've got vid: (MediaInfo Report below):
It's an MTS file, raw from the AVCHD camera.

My intention is to upload the vid to YouTube.

I need to crop the beginning & the end of it off.
Is there a free software app that will let me crop an MTS file?

I tried Adobe Premiere but it seems the FIRST thing it does is trash the video and the audio.
I'm using the same params in the project as below and then converting to MP4.
Audio is 48KHz in both the original and the Premiere Export.

The video isn't as much of a problem as the audio.
Every time I try to export - the vid is trashed and worse, the audio is basically ruined.

How can I end up with a clear looking & *sounding* vid on YouTube from this file?

That's far too much tech info for me . . . . sorry . . . . have you tried Windows LIve Movie Maker? It is a somewhat limited HD-editor free download for Win7.

Most of the cheap Consumer Editors will download directly to YouTube - although personally I think you should burn a DVD first, and then upload that - so at least there can be no mistake....with the content uploaded....

EDIT: Reading yr later posts you seems to be set on high quality - yet my understanding of YouTube (and others) is that the technical quality is somewhat limited...sure they're OK full-screen on a PC; but that's a small screen-size.
IMHO you should be concerned more about the content, ie the story you are telling and for that you'll need a reasonably well-featured NLE, plenty of suggestions here and there.
    Er, FWIW.

Thanks for the reply but Windows Live Movie Maker doesn't work with 64bit - I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.

I have CROP the vid. Youtube will take an MTS file so other than cropping it, I shouldn't have to do anything.
I'd LIKE to be able to down size without losing quality but apparently that's not possible.

Is there a free software app that will let me crop an MTS file?

    Not true. It does.

    How do I install it?
Everytime I try it says it can't install due to incompatibility issues with 64-bit.
Then the setup app simply freezes.

Is there no way to get a vid out of Premiere CS4 with the same quality that the MTS file from the camera has?
I think if I can just crop the beginning & end off each vid I'd be good.

Every time I bring anything into Premiere it trashes it.
Is there any way at all to stop that?
