    To be honest it will depend upon what you want to achieve with your camera.

    Both of these MiniDV cams are entry level cameras. Both are similarly specified and similarly priced.

    So I guess its down to who's gimicks you prefer. If you have a desperate need for an on board light then go for the Panasonic. Bear in mind though that these types of lights have a tendancy to be fairly limiting in specioifcation.

    The real answer to your question lies in what you want to achieve combined with professional reviews.

    For example you can review the Panasonic at http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content...der-Review.htm

    And you can review the JVC at http://www.simplydv.co.uk/Reviews/jvc_grd290.html

    But hey there are loads of review sites out there
    COMPAQ something or other with 500Gb Boot Disk, 1Tb external Firewire Disk, 4Gb Memory and a super duper sound card, 19" TFT Monitor etc etc etc
    Sony TRV33e : Sony TRV310e : Canon XM2
    Sony Vegas Studio editions to v11

    yes, i've made up my mind and i chose Panasonic;
    better quality and more manual controls at the same price
    not to mention the zoom (30X)
