Default HELP: Is it possible to achieve this effect?

    Hey guys,

I was wondering if it is possible to achieve this effect between 3:55 and 4:15 of this Youtube clip (Legendary: Black Mamba Why He Is Truly A Hall Of Famer Already! (Kobe Bryant) (HD) - YouTube) where Kobe Bryant is dribbling and other parts of the video fade in and out?

If it is possible with Sony Vegas, can someone teach me how?

    Thanks!

What efefct, some zooms some unsharp footage and some mono or have I missed thge effect you want would help if you said where it is as I can see no effect or was it the fades TRANSITIONS

Not in windows movie maker, download Sony Vegas free and check out the transitions, split a clip and drop in a transition (Pinnacle makes it MUCH easier)

I use fades some don't like them

    Lionstar Hatherleigh - YouTube

Though the ones you are looking at are transparent transitions that overlap where as I chose fade out/in

What you are trying to do here is quite tricky. Fading the player in over an empty court is easy enough.
You simply take the same shot twice, once with the player and once without.
Then you fade the shot with the player in over the top of the one without.
This is easy with a static camera.
With a moving camera it is not so easy as you have to have exactly the same camera movement in both shots.
You could cheat it by using a static camera, doing the fade in business and then croping and moving the composited image.

As Tim said it can be achieved but is tricky, from what I know this effect is achieved with After Effects.
