Default How to export edited video in full resolution?

I'm using an iMac, a few years old, and have iMovie '09 (v.8.0.6) and Final Cut Express. I would like to add a fade-in and fade-out transition to a short video (.mov file), and export it in full resolution. What tool is best to use, and what would be the appropriate export settings? Thanks so much for any help!

There are tutorials and how to guides built into both programs, I'd suggest you use IMovie.

Hello SMCRMO, to make a fade-in at the start of your movie and a fade-out at the end just use the 'cross-dissove' at beginning and end.
To export without loss use Cmnd-E (share/export) and point out were to place it and how big it will be. That's all!
