Is MiniDV out-dated?

I was discussing this with a friend, who reckons MiniDV is a thing of the past and that HDD/SD camcorders are the way forward..hmmm

With all due respect to your friend, Is he remotely qualified to make such a judgement call?

DV tapes are very much still rooted in video making world and will continue to be for quite a few years to come....by all means HDD based cameras are taking over...but don't discount mini-DV just yet! It's still a fantastic and widely used standard.

I agree with you 100% mate. Some if the best camcorders use MiniDV.

I'm glad that was easily sorted. I've just bought a pack of tapes for a shoot next week.
