Default No sound at preview and after rendering

    Hello,

I encountered a problem in Sony Vegas Pro 10.
I have no sound in the preview and after rendering. I checked the internet and tried many things.
And nothing works. (different output format, making sure audio is enabled, reinstalling the program, etc.)
In other editing programs it's all good. Even after rendering.
The video I'm using has worked before, but all of a sudden vegas has no sound anymore.

    Thanks,

    Oekoeloe

I've just had new glasses and I can barely read those!
Thanks for posting. I should have made it clearer. I meant a screenshot of the timeline (as the sound isn't in the preview, the clues might be there)

Long shot, have you muted the track by accident.

...or even muted all audio, see Options.

    Hello everyone,

I made the screenshot of an example video.
This video has audio in it. But if I want there to be audio, I have to extract the audio with VLC, and trim the video without audio.
Then I put the trimmed video and extracted audio together and I have audio again. But this is a very annoying way to do it.

A link this time, because uploading it is making it very small...

EDIT: As far as I know, I have all the audio on 'ON', also in the options.

    Thanks,

    Oekoeloe

So, what you're saying is that when you import this particular type of avi into Sony Vegas, the audio does not come with it (as shown in your screenshot). In other words the issue is with Vegas being able to recognise your source material. Now we're getting somewhere.

Where does your source material come from?

OK I've done a quick search and over on the Creative Cow website come up with a response from Johnny Rofrano (highly respected Vegas user and members of the VASST team)

    > Does Vegas not recognize mp2 audio?

Yes it does but not in an AVI file. It supports mpeg 2 audio in mpeg files.

    > (Video : 25.0 fps, 720*576 (5:4), DX50 = DivXNetworks Divx v5, Supported)

In general, Vegas does not support, nor like, nor work well with DivX or XviD files. Stop using this format your you will stop having problems like this.

I realise you're not using DivX, but the "not supporting MP2 in an AVI file" seems relevant.
