Thread: Possible Codec issue?

  1. Default Possible Codec issue?

I managed to get a SONY handycam off ebay last week, great little thing for messing with :P

Now, my problem is this. On the device itself and with the PMB software, the video plays absolutely fine. But when i play it in any other player (vlc, media player etc.) its as if the frames bleed into each other. Thats teh best way i can think to describe it really!

As I said though, on the camera and PMB it plays perfectly.

In the PMB software, there is the option to convert the files to either WMV or MPEG2, i've tried both of those and strangley, the video still plays wrong in various media players.

Any ideas to whats happening here?

  2. Default

    HA HA!!!!

    I sorted it!!!

Now I stated that it was still not working in media player, but i was using media player classic! When i tried it in the current windows media player it worked!!!

    SO

Upon brainstorming all the settings in VLC, i hovered over the deinteralce settings, and would you believe it, that was all it was!!!

So, if anyone has searched this, goto Tools->Preferences->Video and under the deinterlace settings, change it to automatic and Bob.

This should hopefully sort it out for you too
