    Default Rendering Canon 5D footage

    Hi all,

I have shot some footage in 25p on my Canon 5D. I want to trim/tweak in Vegas Platinum Studio and then export both to DVD (which I can manage) but also to my PC at the best possible video quality with audio as well. My problem is I dont know which settings to use. I have tried the Blu Ray 1920x1080 but despite ticking 'include audio' I get nothing,.

    Can anyone advise?

When you customise the settings ie tick the include audio stream, are you saving these settings as a new template. I don't know if that is possible in Platinum Studio. If you can I would make up a new template called "Best 1080p".

From the BluRay 1920x1080 50i template:-
    On the video tab,
Make sure the output type is set to mpeg-2.
Set the aspect ratio to square pixels.
Change the field order to "None (progressive scan)".

    On the audio tab,
Tick the include audio stream box.

    On the project tab,
Set the video rendering quality to best on the project tab.

Now save the template as "Best 1080p". You will now have a new template you can use for all yor 1080p renders.

I still get cold shivers from settings of Vegas Studio, but seem to have them OK for the time-being. Normally VS will set the project to match your Imported Media, so everything should match - Make Movie (Rendering) won't upset these settings, but you can check in tiny writing round the preview window.

Another clue is the( 2-digit ),frame-counter at the Left of the Timeline. if you advance the timeline using the Arrow Keys it should roll-over at the frame-rate you're expecting.

That rendered vid is in yr PC (or wherever you directed it) and can be used to make either DVD or BlueRay - thats when the second rendering occurs (In DVD Architect, for example)..... but as with many things, these processes are far from clear.
