Default Win7 Media Player will not play AVCHD (m2t) properly?

Just upgraded my Desktop PC with new SSD hard drive and re-installed Win7. But now Media Player 12 does not play AVCHD files properly, although it does play the audio from these m2t files, the video is just blank. Before the upgrade it played the HD videos OK. I have a Win 7 laptop which plays these files fine, plus a Sony PS3. I have checked the codec list, and the list is exactly what is shown on my Win7 laptop. I have contacted Windows Answers, but they are of NO help. I have Sony Vegas 11, newly created AVCHD (m2t) will not play on MP12 either. Any help please?
