GOOD pro camera under 2k usd

Hi guy, I'm new and I am looking for a good quality camera (HD) for drama, school and dance events I have a budget of 2000 dollars or less (for the camera), I am choosing between the panasonic hdc-mdh1 and the sony hxr-mc1500 but i don't know the cameras personally and need a second opinion or do you of a better camera within my budget.

Can you give some background experience:- photography, camcorders, lighting etc?

Also, who will be Editing this stuff - and who is the target audience, etc?

Is that Budget for the whole kit, or they are separately purchased..?
