Default Quality decreases drastically on importing

Whenever I import any image designed in adobe photoshop to adobe premiere, its quality decreses. The same thing happens with the titles. Also I prepared a short clip in Maya in the avi format using the same frame rate and frame size as used in Adobe premiere, On importing into the premiere the quality of the clip decreased very much. Any suggestions ?
