How do I convert Audio Sample Rate

Hi
It would appear 'standard' audio files are :-

Audio format PCM
Audio Sample Rate 44 khz
Channels 2 (stereo)
Audio Sample Size 16 bit
Bit Rate 1142 kbps

and I am informed when adding audio to dvd authoring it needs to be Sample Rate of 48 khz

Can anyone advise if this is so and if it is how do I convert

A bad resampling job (poor software) can absolutely destroy the fidelity of a soundfile.
A great tool for resampling is R8brain. It is excellent fast and best of all free! You can change the sample rate or bit depth with excellent quality.

I a gree r8brain as stated is quite a good free converter. Voxengo plugins and tools are pretty cool all in all. Dedicated programs for audio such as Sony Sound Forge also have good tools for conversion as well as editing, but are not cheap.
