Thread: Music equalizer

  1. Question Music equalizer

Just looking for a program that has a nice visual music equalizer, so I can record it and use it on a video while the song plays.

If anyone could please recommend me anything that can help, I'll be so grateful.
Something like bars would be great, rather than random lines like on iTunes and windows media player

    Thanks so much!

Does that require manually editing how the equaliser behaves for each song?

Yes, AE contains sufficient settings to generate a wide range of such effects. One could, of course, use the same settings for any number of songs.
Adobe After Effects CS4 * Audio Spectrum effect
In practice, there are some limitations. Video frame rates are generally very slow (e.g. 30 fps), and humans can't generally comprehend graphs which move too fast. If there are too many bands, then humans may not recognise the significance of the moving graphs as the graph becomes too complex to rationise.
Another hassle is that AE is not cheap; and it would perhaps be wasteful to spend such time and money just for one effect.

Alright, thanks very much - that was very helpful.
