    Exclamation Shutter Speed

I Have a Sony HDR FX1 camera that has a max shutter speed of 10,000. I now edit my footage using Adobe Premier CS5 since Apple ruined the new Final Cut Pro. I live near a famous surfing beach, so I am going to start using my camera to make some surf videos. I would like to be able to slow down the shots without looking choppy. I don't know if there is some type of settings on the camera to increase the recording speed on the HDV Tapes or how exactly to capture the frames. I have never taken any film making classes everything I have learned has been by myself just reading stuff online and trial and error.

I appreciate any help or advice on using my camera.

To get the best slow motion shoot using the fastest frame rate. shutter speed is not as important as frame rate.
