Thread: Spec Of PC To Capture/Encode/Stream Live Video ?

  1. Default Spec Of PC To Capture/Encode/Stream Live Video ?

    Hi,

Would anyone please be able to help with some advice on the PC specifications needed to be able to capture/encode/stream live video to a web page.

The capture will be from a camera either into a capture card or directly into the PC.

Once the live video is in the PC then my understanding is that it needs to be encoded into streamable format and then served to the web page.

I hope to have all of this done by a single dedicated PC and to stream the video in FLV format with as little delay as possible behind real time.

    Any advice most appreciated.

    Rgds

This can be done on virtually any pc connected to the Internet with a webcam. For example: http://www.videoforums.co.uk/just-fu...tml#post171956

I will not be using a webcam, it will be a camera on a tripod filming an event plus I wish to get the encoding to flv done as quickly as possible so there is minmal delay between the web page stream and real time.

You'd also need to factor in client and server side software for conversion and delivery. If you do the conversion on the server side, you'll likely require dedicated server hardware, particularly if your bandwidth is relatively high, i.e. it's being deliverd to a wide audience.
