Thread: Pan/Crop nightmare in Sony Vegas 11

  1. Default Pan/Crop nightmare in Sony Vegas 11

Hi all and sorry to be "dramatic" but for me the Pan/Crop tool in Sony Vegas 11 is just a nightmare!
I am used to Final Cut so maybe I'm missing something.

I want to simply crop a video and move it like this:

In Final Cut i simpli crop from the left and then move the clip slightly on the right. In Sony Vegas I tried all the Pan/Crop settings and things but nothing.
I can move the clip BUT i can't crop it right or, I can crop it right but I can't move it.

Is there a simple way to cut/crop from one side of the clip and then move tha cropped clip on the screen?

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Jumpstart.
You use Pan and crop to select the part of the image you want to display. Make sure "Stretch to fill frame" is set to "No".
You then use Track Motion to position it within the frame.
Takes a bit of getting used to, but very flexible once mastered.

I have a question about the cropping in sony vegas 11 as well. I try to crop alittle trim (if the right word) at the top and bottom of my film to give it that Hollywood film look but when I do it zooms my video in before any trim is added to the picture. How can I add this trim without the video zooming in? Ive watched youtube videos and it seems like noone else has this problem lol please help its very frustrating.
