  1. Default Few begginer questions - Vegas studio HD Platinum 11-

    1. How do I set start point?

    2. How do I set end point?

    3. How do I speed up / slow down video?

    4. How do I save my work as AVI?

    5. Lets say my video is short like 3seconds, Its really hard to edit it on timeline, is there any way to strech it without making it thousands of the same thing repeat?
    Thanks.

By asking these questions I would asume you have not followed the interactive tutorials that comes with the program. This would be the first place to start then come back if any of these tutorials are not clear to you.

A brief answer to your questions:

    1. Put the mouse on the left side of the clip and drag it.

    2. Put the mouse on the right side of the clip and drag it.

    3. Right click the clip and change the speed in the properties.

    4. Use the render As options

    5. select a track and turn the scrole wheel OR the up & down arrow keys to zoom in & out.

Where do I set the speed?

In the box that says playback rate. Make the number smaller than 1.0 to slow it down or higher than 1.0 to speed it up.

Vegas Studio is rather powerful and will appear so until quite a lot of Tutorials have been absorbed.
OP should (as suggested here) do the accompanying DVD Tutorials (I laboured through them several times and even now suspect there is still more to learn, therein).
In addition the "show-me-how"s are pretty good, although best done with some "scrap" footage, since it will set one of your regular projects into their format....
Speeding-up is easy, but slowing down is not, this is due to lack of data in the original footage. Silver film could achieve high frame-rates, but modern electronic sensors struggle. That's a fact - DYOR.
BTW the Sony website also contains video-tutorials, typically 1-hr which will improve anyone willing to learn, albeit it is not an easy subject to master.

    Magnify the timeline:-
-at the RH of the time-line scrool-bar there are two tiny boxes, marked (+)(-) these will adjust the timeline, but it's centred about the current time-line position, so put this somewhere near the middle (of a clip), so the ends don't fly-away. - - - The same arrangement applies to the track-view, using RH vertical boxes.
