Thread: Lower third transparency questions

    Question Lower third transparency questions

    Hello...
    I'm running Vegas Pro 10.0
    Editing .MTS files.
I would like to add a lower third animation that is a .MOV file as you can see here... Motion Graphics - Wedding Cake Roses - lower third - VideoHive
How is this done so that the lower third is transparent above the vid layer? Is it even possible with these file types? I have searched around the net a bit and have since learned about alpha channels and such, but I'm still a long ways off on figuring it out
I would appreciate any help with this as I'm a rookie if it wasn't too obvious

    Thanks,
    Darrin

I'm not on my system, so I haven't looked at it yet, but are you aware that when you put a video (or still) on the timeline, you need to tell Vegas to recognise the transparency? Do this by (this is from memory so I may be wrong, but it's in this sort of area) right clicking on the clip, going to properties and you can change something like Transparency or Alpha Channel (sorry, I'm not being very helpful, am I?) to "Straight (unmatted)."

Thanks for the reply Tim, yes I was aware of turning on the alpha channel. I have since figured out that I was doing this step on the wrong track! Doh! It works perfectly now.

Thanks again and I look forward to learning much more in the future.

I wish others would follow your example and post back here with the solution. And yes, that was the solution. Good for you.
