Thread: Video within Video - Which Software ?

Default Video within Video - Which Software ?

I'm wanting to create the effect seen on many youtube videos which show clips of other videos within another video like moving thumbnails.

Does anyone know which editing software this is possible through ? Is there a particular name for this effect (might make my searching easier).

Are there any free editing software packages that might have this feature ?

    Thanks in advance

Any editing program that has more than one video track, which is every one I can think of except Windows Movie Maker. I like the Sony Vegas range. They are cheap and good.

Hello All, I use Video Pro X, from Magix, who also have a consumer version (which I started with in secondary school) called Movie Edit Pro, both have multi track, for video/photo/audio. I highly recommend that software. But as Midnight Blue has stated any multi track editor would have the ability to do a picture-in-picture with scaling and animation.

Yes - It's know as Picture in Picture, or PiP.

    Thanks

I've tried a few editing programs, found one called AVS Video Editor which does as I want but it keeps leaving a watermark over the videos I'm testing it with... even though it was freeware which I thought meant it was free to use without having to advertise the product in such an obvious way.

I'm still trying to find a completely free one, perhaps with the ability to upgrade later on when I need to use it more frequently.
